In
the end no one thanked her for her generosity. Not a piece of work
was created or erected in her honor or generosity. Besides she had
enough of the Sea and the Sky Gods' fear upon her creatures. She woke
up one day with a burn in her belly. She decided she couldn't stand
it anymore. She shook herself and let her
fire out. Her blow of anger and fire came out to the surface and shook
every creature on earth. Everything erected for the two Gods fell into
her lap in an instant. The Beauty Goddess cried out, but she could
only watch
the destruction and anger coming from the deep of mother earth. She
wiped her tears off, as she couldn't stand to see her beauties being
destroyed
and escaped from the country immediately. People realized, this was
the punishment of the Mother Earth and they felt her curse. They left
the region soon after.
The
only remains are the beautiful carvings, still reflecting joy and the
life of people from thousands of years ago. All the marble and stone
carvings of column heads, temple decorations, bridge arches, door
knobs, god figures, warrior arms, fresh flowers and farmers grains
have been lying in mother earth's arms since then. They are sleeping
in the sandy beaches, crowded bushes, under the insect’s coves and
heavy stones. Now new comers are trying to erect those beautiful
creations. However, it takes time and it is a sad time for those who
are working and watching the beauty lie there motionless.
Words
from The Photographer
No
matter if this was the real reason for those civilizations destruction
or not creating a beauty and taking it to the admiration level is
a very difficult and long task. It takes hundreds of years, courage and
many generations before it reaches to the level of perfection and
satisfaction
of before. Stone carvers used to be VIP's among the many civilized
nations.
I lived in those regions and I was lucky to see those beautiful
creations and
admired the workmanship and patience of creating something beautiful
for other people. That gave me the necessary strength and inspiration
in
my work, too. By collecting this series I wanted to salute their wish
to create something that will live for centuries. Some of these
images are digitally enhanced in order to get the full effect of the
stone's colors that were faded by time and natural events.
